Hello, I’m Carly, the owner of Absolute Mug. The full range of unique mugs on this site have all been designed exclusively by me and each one is lovingly made and dispatched from Bideford, Devon.

Since I was young, I have always loved design and knew that was what I wanted to do, starting my first full-time job as a web designer in 2006.

I had my first child in 2010. Unfortunately, there were complications, and my baby boy was soon diagnosed with cerebral palsy and epilepsy. I tried to continue working part-time, but it was just too difficult to give him the care he needed while working at the same time. My second son was born in 2013, and my daughter in 2017, so my hands were well and truly full!

A year after my daughter was born, I decided I needed a new challenge—one that wasn’t nappy or feed-related. So when both boys were at school full-time, I decided to start Absolute Mug. I haven’t looked back since.

It had always been my dream to start my own business and create something that would bring people together. Personally, I love to see someone’s reaction when they first open their mug. When I began receiving messages saying that something I had created had brought people to tears, I knew my dream had become a reality. Happy tears are pretty special.

This year, my chosen charity is the Children’s Hospice South West. This charity provides hospice care for children with life-limiting conditions. I’m doing this in memory of three of my son’s friends who spent time here with their families and created special memories. Money from every mug sale in 2024 will go towards supporting this amazing charity and the work they do. Click here to donate.
